Name: Houdini
Age: 1 year old, summer 2019
Gender: female
Genetics: [Siberian Husky x Dalmatian] x [Border Collie x Irish Setter x Siberian Husky]
Pack: loner for now.
Personality:
Energetic: Being pretty much a pup, Houdini has a lot of energy. She tends to be almost annoying with how her bouncy paws never seem to sit still and the way she can fly around for hours. Because of this, she loves to play any kind of game that allows long periods of running or retrieving of dead animals such as ducks, hares, or anything she can fetch for you! She is a splendid hunter and nothing seems to tire this girl out. You give her a mission of speed and endurance, she will never let you down.
Sweet/Compassionate: Strangely enough, Houdini seems to be a real sweetheart. She is super friendly and can hit it off with pretty much everyone. That is until you really get to know her and know what she is on the inside as well as her pretty face. Either way, when one really does stick with her, she is nothing but a sweet and loving girl that wants to stand by your side. You can't break her down with harsh words. Think of her as that annoying, clingy little friend that you just can't get rid of and you will have Houdini!
Tactful/Strategic: For such a young and uneducated canine, Houdini is super smart and able come up with tactics and ambushes about as quick as you can groom your fur. There is no mission too big or small for her to work around. She seems to specialize in how to take down a big kill with multiple hunters, plan an ambush to attack the enemy, or even something as innocent as a good place for a race. Still, don't let her age and naive nature fool you, she can be a real danger when you are on the wrong side of the bend.
Arrogant/Prideful: Houdini knows she is smart and clever, therefore she is not afraid to strut it around. Even though she is only a year old, she likes to think of herself as the queen bee in certain situations, and she will state her opinion whether it was asked for or not. She doesn't intentionally mean harm here, she just doesn't know any better and sometimes oversteps her boundaries. Either way, she knows she's pretty and good at what her mind can do - and trust me, she won't let you hear the end of it.
Chaotic: If things couldn't get more unpredictable, Houdini tends to be a tornado disguised as a rainbow. She can get out of hand with her energy and her sinister mind, that lives can be more than just endangered. In this times, she tends to lose herself. She gets confused and goes on rampages where she can wake up and have no idea what has gone on. So far, she hasn't hurt anyone. Mainly just hunting sprees and destruction of certain areas. No matter what way you put it, it can be extremely dangerous as she grows up if it increases to other levels.
Sinister/Morbid: Houdini loves a good game of "now you see me, now you don't." To keep it simple, she likes all things spooky and loves to scare people to the bone. That's exactly where her name comes from. Of course, she doesn't actually disappear. But her agile body and strange colored fur makes a quick getaway when you really need one! You could say she is the ultimate prankster. She never know whens to stop. And when you mix together her fascination of dead things, her chaotic, unpredictable nature, as well as her desire to spook the living, you've got a whole jumble of crazy and disaster.
Height: 24 inches (hugs to the Irish Setter side)
Weight: 53 pounds (hugs to the Irish Setter side)
Appearance: Being a mix of all kinds of different built breeds, you would expect Houdini to be nothing but a disaster of cross breeding. However, she has a unique look as well as a good gate and health. Her frame tends to hug that of the Irish Setter in her mother, but her coloring is a mix of the Dalmatian and a mix of the other breeds. Her body is thin and almost lanky in appearance, but underneath it is toned with strong muscle and long legs that can take her at quick speeds for miles. The majority of her color is white, aside from the brown patches that make up both her left ear and a rather large patch that hugs around her rump and base of her tail. She also has black/brown spots that cover mostly her flank area as well as the whiter side of her face. She has a pale pink that surrounds the base of her eyes as well as her nose, and black spots on her tongue. Both of which show her Dalmatian genes. The only other unique thing to cover would be her tail. Though most of her fur is medium in length, her tail starts out thin at the top, but grows about 4 inches longer like a flag from the rest of her body in fur. This makes it a lot like a banner.
History: There is really nothing note worthy about Houdini's past. Her whole life has been a series of strange occurring events and abandonment. However, none of them really got to the young dog as she can be rather oblivious to such emotional connections. The first event was when she was only a few months old. She loved to explore around the den site where her little family called home. She was the only pup of the litter, but was loved very much by her parents. Still, who would have thought that she would be the kind of dog to bring dead things back to her parents? Or disappear seemingly into thin air, only to show up only moments later with a prideful look on her face?
And then there was the fact that she loved to play little pranks on her parents. By the time she was six months old, her parents were fed up with it! Still, they put up with her because they loved her and they thought as she grew she would change. They couldn't have been more wrong. Around eight months old, Houdini began having strange little fits. Ones where she would disappear into the night and show back up with blood or dirt smothering her cloud white fur. She had no explanation and half the time couldn't even remember where she had been, if anywhere it all. That had been the end of it for her parents. In the middle of the night, they left the young dog to fend for herself. Of course, she should have been devastated, yet she wasn't. She couldn't feel anything about it, and just went on with her life like usual.
In her head, she made up a scenario that seemed to fit everything and make it okay. Her parents had gone on a trip together to get her a special present and got lost. They would come back for her eventually, she just had to be patient! And she stuck with that story ever since, not allowing her mind to accept the fact that she had been left behind.
