Name: Artemis
Age: Three years (summer 2017)
Gender: Female
Genetics: [German Shepherd x King Shepherd x Carpathian Shepherd Dog x Belgian Tervuren x Shiloh Shepherd] x [Shiloh Shepherd x Alaskan Malamute x German Shepherd x Great Pyrenees x Anatolian Shepherd x English Mastiff]
Pack: Loner (at the moment)
Personality: Intelligent. Observant. Quiet. Perfectionist. Routine.
INTELLIGENT - Artemis clearly has a good head on her shoulders. You can practically hear the gears whizzing in her brain if you get too close to her ears. She knows how things work and she is always a voracious learner, wanting to know more about something and make sure that no stone is left unturned in her quest for knowledge. However, once Artemis has this knowledge she is no Odysseus, wanting to know something that nobody else has. Instead she is free with things because she believes that information and solutions should be kept from nobody who is worth it. Of course, obvious enemies are excluded from this deal.
OBSERVANT - There is not a single thing that does not escape one of Artemis' senses. Unfortunately, this stems from a type of sensory processing disorder that places her too in tune with the world around her and generates a sort of sensory restlessness within. Her eyes are always twitching around for every nook and cranny, her ears are always flickering for the slightest hint of sound, her nose is always sniffling the air and ground for something, and her paws are stamping around feeling things. She is so in tune with the world around her that when too much begins to flood one sense she does not know how to handle it and begins to shut down that sense until the storm has passed and all is at ease.
QUIET - Artemis is a type of dog that believes in not speaking unless you have something good to add to the conversation. This does not come from any particular kind of wisdom passed down to her from family members of prior generations nor does it have much to do with the idea that speaking too much can keep one from knowing what is happening in the world around them. Rather it merely stems from the place that she does not feel like adding useless drivel to a conversation when there are other things which one should be doing. As a result, you will not get much small talk out of Artemis. Every word is calculated to be meaningful in the conversation.
PERFECTIONIST - In every situation, Artemis believes that there is only one real correct way to handle it and every T must be crossed and every I dotted if you are going to make sure that it works out right in the end. When working on things this way herself it can be frustrating and time-consuming, though she will gladly stress over every second of something and have it turn out proper in the end. When other dogs come into this, however, she has to resist being a bit of a bossy dog and telling them that they are doing something wrong. Instead she puts up with the twitches and wanting to shout that everything is wrong but will often undo the work and start over as soon as they abandon it.
ROUTINE - Artemis is the type of dog that wants to keep a certain pathway at all times, regardless of what somebody else might want to do with their day. She does not like any type of upheaval and will try and remedy any kind of loops thrown at her by trying to force it into the lifestyle which she knows. If the square peg does not fit in the wrong hole, she will grind at the edges until the square is some kind of blob that will haphazardly fit its way in, at least well enough that it will not bother her by having the peg hanging out in the open.
Height: 26 inches
Weight: 80 pounds
Appearance: Artemis takes the striking impression of a long-haired shepherd nearly immediately. Her pelt is long and luxurious, with varying tiers of ascending white, brown, and black. Her face takes on a keen sort of shape that indicates some sense of knowledge and gears whirring around within. Amber-brown eyes the color of honey and fire take center stage when you look at her. The one thing that happens to detract from this majestic appearance is that Artemis is not in the least bit wiry: she takes on more of a stout shape, with short legs and a solid body that she has finally grown into. The one fortunate thing about her mixed breeding is that it allows her to have a healthier back than certain slow-strain predecessors.
History: In the words of Icarus and other elder members of the Wolf Creek Pack, Artemis is an ash baby. She is too young to have been around for the eruption and has never known a life where water was not scarce and food was not rapidly dying off. As a result, she did not live a posh life but was pampered to a certain degree by her family. After all, out of five pups she was the only one who made it past the first few months. One was stillborn, one refused his mother's tainted milk, one was eaten by a hungry stray, and the last perished by playing too rough in a wobbling building. Artemis' parents refused to let anything bad happen to her, but once she was a year old she managed to escape their grasp.
It would be wrong to say that Artemis had a particularly close relationship with Icarus. She never met him in person, but she idolized him from the moment that somebody brought a message from him. The dog said that he believed she was one of the strongest hunters he had ever met and that she would move through the ranks quickly. Artemis thought nothing sexual about it, of course, but instead wanted to do her best. When she heard that Icarus had died her world was shattered and she had nothing to do, preferring to stay in the library where they had first made their home and wait for something to return to her.
