He traipsed along through the streets of this town rather noisily, his head held high and eyes raised upward, not entirely focused on his path ahead. He passed by building after building, not pausing or faltering once in his stride. Nor did he pay much heed to the potential consequences of simply marching through this town. In fact, he never cared about the consequences. Why should he? He had just as much right to be here as anyone else. "There's nothing special about this place anyway." Gordon said aloud. It was just like any other abandoned town he'd come across. Quiet, beginning to decay, dust and ash all around, and.. well. Free for exploration. So far though he had yet to see anything interesting. "Disappointing, really."
Humming softly to himself, he felt a small drop of water land on his nose. This coaxed him into looking upward, finally noticing the dark grey storm clouds which had gathered overhead. He stood there for a moment, dumbfounded as to how he had not noticed it when the answer was really quite simple. "Well. That doesn't look very pleasant." Rolling his eyes in ignorance, he continued strutting ignorantly down the street. "It's just a storm. Who cares." Continuing his walk, he let his mind zone out for a while again, and it wasn't until the wind began to pick up and chill him, accompanied by cracks of thunder bellowing in the distance, that he finally decided that maybe seeking shelter would be a good idea.
Glancing up again, Gordon found himself in front of perhaps the most interesting building he had seen since arriving in this miserable town. Surprisingly it was fairly intact. It was a big building too, taller than the rest around him, prompting him to wonder just what it had formerly been used for. The structures and inventions of humans had always intrigued him. In fact, everything about humans intrigued him. He was always more than happy to sit back and listen to anyone who had knowledge or stories to tell about them. He had seen old pictures of people hanging on the walls in houses, or inside books, or even on these strange little random papers that were sometimes strewn about. Yet he had never seen one in reality. How he wanted to.
"Hmm. I wonder what's in there?" Gordon asked himself curiously, head tipping from side to side as he looked over the building. There were a lot of windows, he noticed from the outside. And a good amount of cars around it too. "Let's find out!" Trotting forward quickly, he was only a few yards away from the front door before the storm started in force. Wind whipped all around him, rain beginning to pelt the ground outside, yet the dog refused to let it hurry his pace any. Walking along as though it were just another stroll in the park, he headed in. The main room was actually quite large and spacious, but there were many other side passages to explore.
Not bothering to shake his wet fur off, he left a trail of water droplets as he waltzed through the main lobby building, toward the nearest door, which brought him to a stairway. Climbing up to the next open door he saw, Gordon pushed through it and was greeted by a rather long hallway. The further he got inside, he realized that this place was a lot cleaner than most others too. His claws made clicking sounds on the pristine looking white floor. So it annoyed him that more than a few of the doors in this hallway were closed. His pace slowed considerably as he allowed time for every new detail of this place to sink in. It was also darker in here, and he could hear the storm going on outside. Finally spotting a door which had been left cracked open, he shouldered it aside to enter another room. Strange silver tables stood atop a spotless tile floor, appearing as if they were waiting for something. A collection of glass filing cabinets against one wall allowed him to view a number of curious looking instruments. Tools. Though unlike anything he had seen before. It was all so neatly organized, too.
"What is this place?" He wondered aloud, voice echoing through the room and down the hallway. While he was curious about this building, it did have one thing in common with every other place he'd visited. It was dead silent if not for the sound of his breathing. Surprising given its size. Although he supposed his likelihood of ever finding anyone in here was very small. The building was so large with multiple floors to explore.
