Known for its cascading waterfalls and wide variety of wildlife and trees, Highwood made for a beautiful national park. Now, with the taint clearing out, it is starting to regain some of that beauty in a more rugged way.

The mountain range is almost pitiful in size, but it remains a popular location with the city's more athletic fare for its steep inclines and jagged edges. Besides, few wild things lurk between the edges.

Popular during the early days of the 4H and Girl/Boy Scouts craze, the campgrounds were shut down in 1984 due to an accidental shooting during hunting season, and since then they have become overgrown and wild.

The zoo was never quite impressive but for a few animals, namely a strong wild canines section: wolves, foxes, African Wild Dogs: if you could name it, they had it. Everything else was left pitiful by comparison, and so vet school students often specialized in canines.
